from my childhood in africa, dance has always been a large part of my life
eye thank my parents for working hard & affording
me the incredible opportunity of graduating
from the international dance teachers association in zimbabwe
dance teaches us much in life, whether we have studied it or not
as dancers of life, our dance is life itself
eye accessed "my dance account" when eye recovered from surgery
in it there was focus, courage, patience, determination, fluidity..
a large dose of serious discipline
& an overwhelming sense of connection to something larger than life itself
there is a book that stays close to me by anna halprin..
anna is an american dance revolutionary
& someone whom eye admire tremendously
please allow me to share one of her many quotes with u today
"before i had cancer, i lived my life for my art
after i had cancer, i lived my art for my life"
eye painted this 3 months ago & it depicts a dancer
just stepping over a mountain she has been allowed to climb
she is carrying sweets as an offering
her head is slightly lowered so not to gaze too directly as she meets it..
life within life itself
